About Bike-alog
We produce a monthly “universal catalog” on CD for subscribing
bicycle stores and suppliers throughout the country. It has been respected in the
industry for 20 years.
We look for long-term only, assume commitment to the bicycle
industry and bike retailers in particular, and familiarity with the Windows environment.
Our informal, hardworking,
nonsmoking,
no-dress-code office is a mile from
the UCSB campus in Santa Barbara: a year-round bike-to-work coastal/mountain cycling
paradise bordering the Los Padres National Forest with hundreds of miles of gorgeous
mountain bike trails and endless opportunities for road cycling.

We currently are looking for people who can
do one or more of the following jobs:
Industry
Analyst
(full or part time)
Analyze
and enter bikes, parts & accessories for industry database. Requires ability
to describe bicycle parts & accessories clearly and to understand subtle product
distinctions between wholesaler listings (such as
whether slightly different descriptions from different wholesalers are actually
the same product). Also limited telephone
tech support, member sales support, and vendor relations. Can be a learning opportunity
if you’re willing to learn on your own and already have enthusiasm & bike knowledge.
If you don’t have previous bikeshop or industry experience, mention in your email
why you feel you can do the job.
Full
or Part time. Schedule is flexible as long as 75% of your time is within normal
business hours.
Assistant Office Manager (part
time)
Part-time. Great learning position
for student or other person with some good office skills and the ability to learn
quickly.
Need quick-learning person to work in relaxed, but busy office!
You’ll be working under the supervision of our office manager of 18 years (who is
also a senior programmer) and who really needs someone to help her with some tasks,
and more important, to take charge of some responsibilities completely.
We need 20 hours a week of your time, preferably on a daily schedule (which can
vary by day) and additionally the ability to come in at specific times to run monthly
tasks.
Duties will include but will not be limited to:
Answer the phones. Assist the caller if you can, or direct the call to the proper
person.
Maintain information in our database about bicycle stores who are Bike-alog members
or potential members.
Prepare recurring reports.
Ordering
supplies.
Perform scheduled office procedures on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. These
include using several custom applications that have been developed to automate our
office.
Help revise several documents to reflect current practices.
You
set your own schedule as long as it is within normal business hours.
Sales
(full or part time)
Seeking energetic, self motivated individual to conduct
organized follow-up to cement relations and build long-term goodwill with new members
and our current member bike shops. Duties would include telephone sales and support,
manufacturer relations, and industry analysis. Also person to sell ads on
www.BikePedia.com
to manufacturers.
Candidate must have experience with
the cycling industry, or display a solid knowledge base of cycling industry parts
and accessories. Flexible weekday hours, (min20) in a casual Goleta office.
Salary hourly plus commission.
